How to allow location for attendance
Attendance uses your phone's location only when you tap Check In or Check Out, to confirm you are at the institute. It is never tracked in the background.
Android (Chrome)
- Swipe down from the top of the screen and turn on Location.
- Open Settings > Location > Location services > turn on Google Location Accuracy (improves accuracy indoors).
- In Chrome, open the attendance site, tap the lock icon left of the address > Permissions > Location > Allow.
- If you tapped "Block" earlier: Chrome menu (⋮) > Settings > Site settings > Location > find this site under "Blocked" > Allow.
- Also check Android Settings > Apps > Chrome > Permissions > Location > Allow only while using the app and turn on Use precise location.
iPhone (Safari)
- Settings > Privacy & Security > Location Services > turn On.
- In the same screen, scroll to Safari Websites > choose While Using the App and turn on Precise Location.
- In Safari, tap aA in the address bar > Website Settings > Location > Allow.
- If you added the app to the Home Screen, open it and allow location when asked.
Still not working?
- "Accuracy too low": move near a window or outdoors for a few seconds, turn Wi-Fi ON (even if not connected - it helps positioning), then try again.
- "You are X m away": you must be inside the institute campus. If you are inside, wait 10-20 seconds and retry.
- Connect to the institute Wi-Fi: if your branch allows Wi-Fi check-in, this works even when GPS is weak.
- Use the same phone and browser you registered with. A different phone needs a device change request.
- Still stuck? Tell your coordinator - they can mark your attendance manually.
